About Hattie
I became inspired with adorning the head in the early 80's when I discovered all the vintage styles in a store called Ragstock, in Minneapolis. A few years later I moved to Los Angeles and began studying fashion design at Santa Monica college. I continued to be obsessed with hats, and took my first millinery class in 1991 at Otis---my love and passion grew and brought me to a career in film, theater and television. After 25 years I have come full circle to creating my own Hattie line, finding "previously loved" hats and giving them my "medicine" using vintage silk ties, gemstones and crystals, keeping sustainability a priority.
